Our Impact Partners and Ten-Year Growth Strategy
At Over and Above Africa, we are passionate about safeguarding endangered wildlife with. People are often surprised to learn just which animals are on the critically endangered or threatened list: giraffe, zebras, elephants, lions, cheetahs, rhinos, mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, penguins, pangolins, addax, to name just a few. It’s complicated by the fact that some African countries have healthy wildlife populations, while others do not.
Our dedication to both wildlife preservation and impacted, community support shapes every initiative we undertake. In addition to protective measures for wildlife, we have built school rooms where it benefited working families in Kwa Zulu Natal, and we’ve provided bicycles to rangers who traversed 17 km a day on foot patrolling the Northern territory of the Kruger National Park. As a compact organization we are able to pivot and consider projects that larger organizations do not and we continuously refine our agenda, enhance our skills, knowledge base, and strategies in both projects, fundraising and our awareness programs.
In 2024 and 2025, we focused on the development of a state-of-the-art wildlife rehabilitation center in Nelspruit, South Africa, in collaboration with our esteemed partners at “Wild and Free.” This facility now includes a surgery, a crucial X-ray machine, where previously the nearest one was over 400 miles away, and many animals were just too sick or injured to survive the journey. Our wildlife rehabilitation success rate has reached an impressive 90%, a testament to our commitment and ongoing efforts in treating and releasing patients. Our initiatives are designed to create positive changes that benefit both endangered species and local populations.
We collaborate closely with on-the-ground partners who understand the specific needs of their communities and ecosystems and guide our selection. Each new project is meticulously vetted to ensure its effectiveness and sustainability. To witness the diverse range of initiatives we support, be sure to check out some of our our projects.
In 2021, we established a robust advisory board which has significantly expanded our reach. With their direction and support, we have ongoing or completed projects in 9 African countries with more on the schedule for 2026, amplifying our impact across the continent.
